AP CSP Summer
Here you will find your summer assignment for AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP)
|
ResourcessThroughout the year, we will use several online resources, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office 365 (including Teams for classroom management) and Harvard's CS50 AP Portal.
I will send out information about the MS Office 365 accounts a little later in the summer as soon as the class is finalized, and you can all get that set up ahead of time, or we will take care of it the first of class. |
BookThis summer you will read part of Blown to Bits: Your Life, Liberty, and Happiness After the Digital Explosion by Hal Abelson, Harry Lewis, and Ken Ledeen. This book is available online for free in PDF format. If you wish to purchase the book, there are several options here, or you may get a printed copy from the school for $5, in which you may write and keep. If you choose a copy from the school, please see or contact Mrs. Beaman and she will get it for you (contact information can be found on the About page).

Assignment
The assignment consists of reading the first 3 chapters of Blown to Bits and completing the reading guide to go along with those chapters. (If the link does not work, please email me and I will send it to you.)
We will most likely read more of the book during the year, so make sure you keep it safe. I will also send out an email at the end of July to let everyone know there is an assignment, and to remind those that already know. |
Extra Credit
The extra credit assignment below is worth up to 5 points on the summer assignment assessment.
In a short paragraph or two, tell what GDPR is and what it means to society. List any sources you used at the end of your paragraph(s), but they do not have to be formal citations; the URL of the website or name and author of the book/paper is sufficient. |
